Payload Pilot Now in NHVR Log Haulage Code of Practice

Advantia’s free online tool, Payload Pilot, is now formally recognised in the newly released NHVR Log Haulage Industry Code of Practice as an approved way to generate Static Rollover Threshold (SRT) reports.

That means log hauliers, drivers and operators have a practical, no-cost way to check vehicle stability, help meet safety obligations and keep rigs upright and productive. Try Payload Pilot today to get your SRT report and make smarter loading and haulage decisions.

Payload Pilot: the simple tool that’s now part of official log haulage guidance

Hauling logs is inherently demanding. Heavy loads, high centres of gravity, changing terrain and long hours all conspire to increase rollover risk. Advantia Transport Consulting, with support from the NHVR’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, built Payload Pilot to give the industry a straightforward way to understand one of the most important stability metrics: the Static Rollover Threshold (SRT).

Payload Pilot calculates the SRT and safe payload height for any combination of heavy vehicles (PBS or non-PBS) so drivers, fleet managers and safety officers can see how close a rig is to instability before it leaves the yard. It delivers a downloadable report that can be used in load planning, driver briefings and safety documentation.

Now, the new Log Haulage Industry Code of Practice, released by the NHVR in July 2025, explicitly references Payload Pilot as an accepted method to produce SRT reports that support compliance with safety planning and Chain of Responsibility duties. That inclusion means the tool is not just useful—it’s part of the official guidance for safer log haulage across Australia.

Why checking SRT matters on a logging job

Logs are heavy, often loaded high, and move unpredictably during transport. Knowing your vehicle’s SRT gives you real insight into how stable the combination is under load, especially when cornering or negotiating uneven ground. It helps prevent the kind of rollovers that cause downtime, damage and risk to drivers and other road users. The Code of Practice brings this into sharp focus by elevating evidence-backed tools like Payload Pilot as practical controls to manage that risk.

Accessible, no cost, designed for industry

Payload Pilot was launched in May 2024 and was deliberately made free and easy to use. Users enter their vehicle combination details, and the tool quickly returns an SRT and safe payload height along with a report that can be saved or shared. It’s built to give the same engineering-grade insight that consultants use, without complexity or fees, making it ideal for drivers, small operators and large fleets alike.

If you’re involved in log haulage, whether you’re behind the wheel, managing a fleet or overseeing compliance, take five minutes today to use Payload Pilot. Go to the tool, input your combination, and download your SRT report. Use it to inform loading decisions, driver briefings and safety plans. It’s free, fast and now part of the NHVR’s official Code of Practice for safer log haulage.
